Was Trump misinformed?
Coronavirus is SARS Cov2.
Trump was still downplaying it in March this year 2020.
He thought it would die out like SARS Cov1 -
which was a reasonable assumption at the time.

2002–2004 SARS outbreak
Over 8,000 people from 29 different countries and territories were infected, and at least 774 died worldwide.[2] The major part of the outbreak lasted about 8 months, since the World Health Organization declared SARS contained on 5 July 2003. However, several SARS cases were reported until May 2004

Around December 2019, SARS-CoV-2, a new strain of coronavirus closely related to the one that causes SARS emerged, leading to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The last lockdown didn’t work and this one won’t either unless we
all wear masks when out shopping etc.
I thought that some factory in country Victoria was making masks? Get your sewing machine out and make some for yourself, there are instructions all over the Net. grin

It's not about me -
it's about everyone wearing a mask.
Someone should be standing outside the entrance of every shop and supermarket
selling masks to people before they can enter the store.
Better still - give them away.

I don't think there are enough masks to do that?

317 new cases today!
The worst ever.

What worries me is that Florida USA has
10,000 new cases every day yet it has
a smaller population than Australia -
but -
it's summer over there and very hot.
Cold and flu viruses normally go away over summer.
This virus is different -
it's a devil virus and I think it's an escaped bio weapon.

Jesus Christ - our number of cases is now 10,250.
https://coronaboard.com/

Still much lower than Florida USA -
they've got a shocking number of 291,629 cases
with a smaller population than Australia.
That shows you what we could be in for.

I have purchased several masks months ago in anticipation of breakouts,

only an idiot living in Victoria would not have bothered until now.

I went to the supermarket yesterday.
I asked for mask to wear against Covid-19.
The lady said they don't have any and they have never sold any.
The chemist next door had none left.
I blame Daniel Andrews -
he wants us to wear masks but there aren't any.

We have an incompetent fool running our state.

Dan never even said what suburbs those cases are in.
Why is he withholding vital information?

Melbourne sure has changed.  Berwick used to be out in the sticks, I knew somebody who lived there, a Liberal MP for La Trobe.

I have absolutely no idea where those places are and I lived in Melbourne. Haven't been back for years though and presume these are new areas?

Casey is not far from me.  gulp.

Are they suburbs or Council names? If Council names, what suburbs are in, say, Casey - just the older ones, I wouldn't have a clue about any new suburbs (created in the last 30+ years). :D

They are many suburbs each.

Coronavirus live updates: Victorian Premier threatens state-wide lockdown as cases surge

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has threatened to reintroduce a state-wide lockdown as the state's spike in cases has pushed Australia's number of new cases per day to its highest level in more than six weeks.
There were 17 new cases in the state overnight – authorities don’t know where 11 of them came from. Mr Andrews said the fact that many of the state’s new cases have come from unauthorised family gatherings is “just not on”.
“It doesn’t matter how many people are doing the wrong thing – everybody, everybody will pay the price if we get to a point where restrictions either localised or across the state need to be re-introduced,” he said.
Health minister Greg Hunt suggested the six hard-hit areas of Melbourne could be put into localised lockdowns if cases aren’t contained by 19 July.
He said the option to lock down Brimbank, Cardinia, Casey, Darebin, Hume and Moreland is being very carefully examined.
Yesterday Australia recorded 18 new cases, 16 of which were from Victoria. The state currently has 127 active cases, including two which are in intensive care.
Premier Daniel Andrews says there is now an "army" of people knocking on doors in Melbourne to make sure the rules are being followed.
"I can also confirm for you that there is literally an army of people going out door knocking," he said.
"There will be hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people from our expanded public health team out there door knocking in hot spot suburbs and other areas if that’s deemed appropriate.
"They will do that job in providing public health advice and making sure that everybody, where language and other issues like that won’t be a barrier."
