More beaches in NSW will have drones helping lifeguards and lifesavers to spot any potential risks in the water as they happen this summer.

Another 15 beaches in NSW will have drones help lifeguards to spot any potential risks in the water as they happen.

The state government is expanding the use of drones after a trial on the NSW north coast last year, with beaches at Kingscliff, Yamba, Coffs Coast, Tacking Point in Port Macquarie, Birubi, Redhead, Avoca, Kiama, Mollymook, Pambula and Tathra to benefit.

"They allow our lifesavers to spot the risk and get straight to work to prevent a potential attack or drowning," Primary Industries Minister Niall Blair said of the trials which will continue until the end of April 2019.
