Malcolm Turnbull tells Q&A he wants an explanation from those who chose to 'blow up the Government'

Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has named nine key figures responsible for his downfall and challenged them to explain why they "blew up the Government".

During a one-hour appearance on the ABC's Q&A program, a calm but defiant Mr Turnbull told the audience he still could not explain why he was rolled as prime minister, and claimed he did not see it coming.

"I think those people who are responsible for taking a successful, competitive government and literally blowing it up need to have an explanation," he said.

"The reality is, people have got to be adults and be accountable."

For the first time, Mr Turnbull named nine key figures in the insurgency — Peter Dutton, who led the challenge, and backers Tony Abbott, Greg Hunt, Mathias Cormann, Mitch Fifield, Steve Ciobo, Michaelia Cash, Michael Keenan and Angus Taylor.

"It never occurred to me that those people would act in a way that was going to be so damaging both to the Government, to the party and, frankly, to the nation," he said.

"It was so obvious that the coup, the insurgency, was going to be destructive.

"It was so obvious that there was not going to be any upside to it — and of course that's what's turned out."

Mr Turnbull warned the Liberals they were losing the moderate vote, and took aim at some conservatives intent on seizing control of the party.

"What you've seen increasingly from the right, even if they're not in the majority, they'll say 'if you don't give us what we want, we'll blow the show up'," he said.

From a PVO article in The Australian a very sensible comment...

Quote :
Another Malcolm is God post by PVO...  When will he ever learn?
Just because Progressives are upset there is not 2 major Progressive Parties doesn't mean everyone is PVO.
The Libs had a narcissistic, egotist as a leader who thought he was not only the Smartest-Man-In-The-Room...  make that any room, he thought he was born to rule.
He stabbed a good Candidate, 2 Leaders, (one a PMwith a huge majority) to get where he thought he deserved to be.
Along the way he has been a gross political failure...  The Republic Referendum, lost that blamed Howard for his ineptitude.  Stacked a branch to become a Candidate for a safe Seat... Knifed a good man, who may well have been an equally good PM, Brendan Nelson... Made a Godwin awful mess of politics as Leader due to his political ineptitude and lost a spill due to his being too close to Labor.  Chucked a tanty and only Howard, the man who broke Australia's heart, talked him into staying.  He was given a portfolio, yet white-anted, back-grounded against and  harassed and harangued... sucking up to the ABC and any LW Progressive media source he could.  Till he and his mob of black-hands had the numbers to call a spill and depose the man who brought them out of opposition.  he promoted those Wets that stood by him marginalising the Conservatives in the Conservative party till he created the Progressive Liberal Party and had cost the Liberals membership, support and donations.  He lost the large majority at an election he almost didn't even show up for.  He lost more polls than those he used as an excuse to call a spill against Abbott, he dithered and flip-flopped on policy, yet another of his non-strengths.  All the while keeping Abbott out of Cabinet, something Abbott did not do to him, but hey he was creating a new liberal party one in his own image.
He will go down as the worst Liberal that ever was...  or truth be known...  that wasn't.

I saw reference to how Lucy was involved in "running the show", but couldn't find anything. I always said that Lucy was behind Malcolm ... he is such a weak type of man.
